Shaun Robinson is a certified Holistic Nutritionist who graduated with honours from the Institute of Holistic Nutrition. In practice he emphasizes the use of whole foods as medicine. In addition, dependent on a client’s current health status, he may also recommend specific supplements and suggest lifestyle enhancements to help his clients reach their health goals faster.
“I wasn’t always clear on the direction that I wanted my life to take. Throughout my 20’s and into my early 30‘s, I worked in advertising.
At times it was a chaotic world of tight deadlines, working at a furious pace, pinned to my desk, with little time to focus on what I was eating. Sound familiar?
Continuing on with my frantic desk job and pushing myself excessively hard at the gym, I ended up with shoulder tendonitis, wrist inflammation and numbness (possibly progressing to carpal tunnel), neck and back issues. In addition, I was also suffering from digestive distress, a build-up of hidden yet dangerous visceral fat, and my eyeballs battled afternoon fatigue daily, come 2pm.
After spending thousands on physiotherapy and acupuncture treatments along with multiple doctors’ visits, I decided it was time to have a closer look at my diet.
While I believed that I was making good food choices, a diet that centered around whole-grain breads, lots of animal products and some fruit and vegetables, wasn’t working well for me. My whole body was inflamed and screaming for change. By shifting my way of eating to more of a plant-based whole foods diet with some clean animal protein sources, I began to thrive again. Inflammation in my shoulder and wrists has steadily been decreasing over the years and my digestive issues have completely resolved. I can also now get through an entire day without feeling drained. I attribute this all to food.
As food continues to restore my health, my goal is to help others heal and return to an energized state of being by using food as medicine.”
Shaun’s own personal experience with chronic injury, fatigue and digestive distress has not been without reward. It has offered him valuable insight and experience which he draws upon in helping people from all around the world in managing their own pain and inflammation, improving their energy and promoting total body wellness through food.
